The 5th International Agrospace Workshop will progress on the challenge raised in 2004 of combining the two sectors of Agroalimentary and Space apparently very far each other but linked by important technological and market synergies, taking into account the real need to promote new developments and thus to contribute to the growing of GNP in the involved countries.
The primary objective is to prepare a path from the most advanced systems for food production on Earth (like Hydroponic Systems) to the food production in Space permitting to improve the consequent benefits for the single citizen.
Developing the issues of the previous Agrospace Workshop, the latest scientific and technological innovations, related to protected growth techniques, will be analysed including plant physiology and closed loop production systems.
It will also presented the growing systems of plants in a Space environment ranging from Orbital Stations to future colonies on Moon and Mars. Specific attention will be given to the economical factors and the compared advantages with respect to conventional food production systems.
